Can you help? Community media researcher seeks assistance

I’m a part-time postgraduate student at the University of Glamorgan in Cardiff.

My MA (Res) is looking into community radio co-operatives, within the context of sustainability of community media social enterprise and co-operatives.

Eco factor judged to be a real winner

From blast – to lift-off! I have just finished working on a project called the Eco Factor – a scheme involving more than 20 young people in a Birmingham inner city area pitching ideas on how to tackle climate change - and it’s been a blast.

Social change starts with maths and story-telling

I often think of the guy who was designing the first passenger aeroplane, and how he might have tried explaining to his family over Sunday lunch that he was going to safely put 100 people into the air in an oversized tin can.

Chain Reaction 09: The best bits

Yesterday I spent the day with 400 other people exploring ways of changing society for the better. The second Chain Reaction in Canary Wharf event saw a diverse mix of charities, social entrepreneurs, businesses, politicians, social media "geeks" and students gather together and collaborate on developing new ideas and committing to taking them forward.

  • I worked in “regeneration” 1996 to 2009.  My last job in this sector was for University College London and was in the built environment.  I remember, very suddenly after starting that job in 2007, suddenly seeing BURA at almost every turn; the organisation was exceptionally well represented in this field.  …

  • Grateful for all the supportive comments about BURA and about the need for some continuing action, particularly on the awards. All ideas and offers of help and involvement are very welcome. We are determined not to lose the accumulated knowledge and connections. Watch this space
