Jamie co-founded New Start and is a trustee of a charity, Sheffield Reclaim. His passion for rock climbing ultimately led to the gradual relocation of the company from London. When not suspended from his fingernails, he takes time out to lead tours to China, Costa Rica and Venezuela.

Julian co-founded New Start with Kath Acres and Jamie. After editing the magazine for nearly long enough to qualify for a free bus pass, he now runs NS+ consultancy and works for New Start for one day per week. In his spare time his children are trying to give him a musical education.

Chocolate connoisseur Susan joined the magazine at its launch in February 1999 and is now seeking exemption from tea-making duties. She now works three days a week and intends to study sometime soon.

Tim’s publishing career has encompassed the drinks industry, fashion, and regeneration – although he doesn’t rule out returning to drink. He supports Manchester City for his sins, plays guitar, and can be contacted in the Tavern stand on Lords match days.

Rosie’s interest in regeneration was influenced by growing up in Gateshead. Unfortunately, her north east upbringing also inflicted the miseries of Newcastle United on her. Rosie joined New Start in 2004 and also co-edits Voluntary Voice magazine.

Former international springboard diver Barry has made a big splash at New Start, having joined us in February 2006 from the Northwest Evening Mail in Barrow-in-Furness. Cue jokes about being thrown in at the deep end…

Ryan joined us in 2004 and has helped to develop our advertising and sponsorship offerings, and New Start’s conferences and events. As well as being a snooker whizz, Ryan describes himself as an overactive member of his local community.

Chloe brings organisational flair to our events and plays a key role in our advertising team. She’s also worked on the FOOTSEY social enterprise trade fair and the Skoll World Social Enterprise forum. A saxophonist, Chloe regularly performs gigs with her band the Catch-it Kebabs

Freelance designer Chris takes care of all the non-editorial design (aside from the Regeneration Index) for New Start and NS+ as well as projects for his own clients.
Equally happy working in print as well as online, Chris is also undertakes photography commissions on a regular basis for a variety or projects.

Austin has been with New Start since 2003 and became editor in October 2006. Before joining the magazine he worked for a number of regional newspapers, breaking world exclusives including ‘Panto star hurt in sword fight’. In his spare time he runs a comedy night and follows the fortunes of Stoke City.
