Who do I send news to?
News items should be sent to the editor, Austin Macauley. You can telephone our newsdesk direct on 0114 281 6133, or email news@newstartmag.co.uk.
While we endeavour to provide as comprehensive a news service as possible, many items we receive are never used. Our aim is to use material that is of interest to as wide a range of our readers as possible. We do not acknowledge receipt of material or return it unless specifically requested.
What are your deadlines?
We go to press at 1pm on Wednesday afternoons and the magazine is published every Friday. However, editorial pages are produced throughout the week and space is very limited on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Letters to the editor should be received by 10am on Tuesdays.
Material for features needs to be with us at least seven days before publication, but should be discussed in advance with the editor.
What sort of pictures do you accept?
We accept good quality colour or black and white photographs, but cannot guarantee publication. Colour photographs should ideally be sent digitally, by email to tim@newstartmag.co.uk Please speak to our production editor, Tim Mawdsley, first.
Pictures are normally published on the basis that first British rights to publication rest with New Start, and that prints and photographic material will remain the property of New Start Publishing Ltd unless otherwise agreed.
Can I write for New Start?
Yes. If you have an opinion to express, research to publicise, or an insight into regeneration policy, write to us, telephone or email the editor. But space is limited and we have to select articles for publication carefully.
